The dawn of the day is the first appearance of light before the sunrise. The sun is coming over the horizon but its full power is not seen nor felt. Mist is a cloud or covering that lessens your ability to see. A misty dawn can be a beautiful sight because you can see there is light shining through, but an internal misty dawn can be a struggle. Let’s paint a picture to illustrate what needs to be understood.
A person’s dawn is the struggle one has to see the light, God’s light or His infinite power and grace. His full power is not seen or felt during the dawn, but it is beginning to. It’s a glimmer of hope that instills a sense of comfort but there is a void that isn’t filled completely. The mist is a number of things. It is the distractions, the loud voice of the world, the entity that wants the attention so the realization that the dawn is soon over and God’s light is shining in full, but you don’t know it because you are focused on only the mist. The mist allows for misdirection and confusion. A great example of people that were lost by a mist is found in the scriptures in 2 Nephi 8:23 “And it came to pass that there arose a mist of darkness; yea, even an exceedingly great mist of darkness, insomuch that they who had commenced in the path did lose their way, that they wandered off and were lost.”
How would it feel to want to see the light but can’t because of a mist that distorts your vision and disheartens you? You know there is light there you can see a speckle of hope but to get past the mist is hard. It’s like praying fervently with real intent and not getting answers for a long time, you kind of want to give up on it right? Because your faith is weakened. Those of you that are experiencing a misty dawn in your lives I imagine you want to see the light and fill the void. You know there is light through the thick of the distracting mist. However, it is very hard to storm through that heavy mist that weighs your spirit down. All I have to say is this. The mist will come and go. It is always temporary. The dawn is an everlasting hope. No matter how thick the mist is, you can always see the light and with patience you can exercise your faith. Don’t give up the sun will soon rise and you will see the greatness this beautiful world has to offer. You will achieve that happiness you deeply desire. Remember that the dawn is the rising of the sun not the going down of it. There is hope! Be still and know that your misty dawn will be a beautiful clear day again. Just trust.
“Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake To guide the future as he has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul: The waves and winds still know His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.”
p.s. You still have the light shining through the mist, it’s still there, trust me! Just Believe.
